FUN FUN FUN Crafts

Some girlfriend's and I put together a group that gets together once a month to do fun crafts, most of them found on pinterest.com.....Since I don't drink hardly anymore, this is my way of getting away from husband and kids for a couple hours.

We have only met twice so far, here are the projects....

First day was at Darce's house...easy project and looks great up...

TILTED FLOWER POTS:

1st-
  • Need 1- 8 inch clay flower pot
  • 5- 6 inch clay flower pots
  • Paint to whatever color you wanted

2nd...

  • Cut piece of rebar to make long enough to push in the ground a couple feet and then the length to fit all pots.
  • Put 8 inch pot on first...fill with dirt, the start added other pots fill with dirt as you go and as you tilt.
  • It took my and Devin both to get mine right (this is actually a picture of Darce's)

FLOWER POT PEOPLE

The next craft event was at my house...we made Flower Pot People.

 1. Buy the pot....
  • You will need 14- 4 inch clay pots
  • 3-8 inch clay pots
  • Rope

2. Start with the legs and the arms
  • 5 pots on the legs and 4 pots on the arms
  • Tie a knot in the rope...put the pot on with the opening facing down
  • go about an inch - inch and a half up the rope tie another knot, put another pot on the same way til you get to the amount of pots you want for the legs and arms
ARMS

 LEGS

Run the rope from the legs into the bottom of one of the 8 inch pots.....

Run the rope then through another 8 inch pot so that pot is sitting opening to opening on top of the other 8 inch pot.

Continue to run the legs rope up through the top pot ( the head ).....

Also through the "head" pot you need to run the arms ropes....so there will be a total of 4 ropes running through the "head"

Tie the ropes together in the "head" to secure the pot person.

THE FINISHED PRODUCT...

Me and the girls....(well Glennden snuck in in the background...lol)

This is where my little guy lives...I have since gave him some flowers for hair.

THANKS.....Will update on more after the next couple "Craft Days"

OUR FIRST BUILD!!! The Dining Room Table

I am so proud of my husband and soo happy he deals with me!!

I came across a website that is amazing!!  www.ana-white.com

There are plans, pictures to pretty much anything you want to build in your home.

I went crazy, I have a whole list of items that I am having Shawn build for me.  First being our dining room table, since a lot of our stuff is still in AL in storage, I am trying to replace a lot of it so its less we have to bring back, one of the things was the dining room table.

This was my inspiration picture...

Now here is what we came up with from that...Step by step on the build.

Devin and Shawn starting on table

Finished, before stain and paint

Mike and Shawn added legs, we started out with the 2x4's like the directions said but then Shawn found these legs, so we are trying them....not 100% sold yet on them (think they may be to skinny for the size of the table), but I am giving it a little while before I make my final decision...we can always go back to a 2x4 or a 4x4 leg.

Finished Product

Finished
I love the table!!

I am still looking for chairs that can go with the table better, but mine that I already have will work for now.....

Total Cost.....drum roll please

About $70 after all is said and done!!

Now onto the next project....outside picnic table with benches.  Will post when finished.

Jaidyn's 14!!

Oh the teenage female....what can I say, I know that I probably haven't even begun to know about how it is to raise teenager as of yet, Since she is only 14 and Kylie on only 12...but I can tell you that I am really getting a feeling about how this is going to be.  When they say parenting to hard, I think this is the age they are talking about.....TEENS.

They are emotional...(to say the least)
Happy one minute, then turn around the next minute and she is in tears.

They over dramatize EVERYTHING....her school drama is funny to me, but to her it is the end of the world

I am trying to remember being her age...and if you knew me at 14, the stuff I was doing I am not proud of as I look back now being 32.  So I can understand where she is coming from on most of the stuff, and I thank God that she is not like I was at that age!!

She is bright, beautiful, funny and a pleasure to be around (80% of the time  j/k, lol)

Her birthday falls on the same day as Darce's daughter Savannah, (she turned 11), so we cooked out that night to celebrate together.
They both got to pick out what they wanted on their side, and this is what a 14 yr old and a 11yr old came up with ....A princess and Blue's Clues, Funny

HAPPY 14TH BIRTHDAY JAIDYN!!

Catching Up....

Sorry its been a little while since I wrote on here.  A couple things have changed in my life..

1.  WE MOVED!!  Yay!  We found a house through a friend of Shawn's, it is an older house built maybe 1930's, three bedrooms (girls share a room, Devin in his own, and mine and Shawn's is huge so it is easily shared with the twins and can be made into two rooms if we decide to buy it), 1.5 bath, fenced backyard, 2 stall garage. And the best part is that it is $300 less than the duplex we were renting!!  And maybe in a year the landlords may be up for a land contract!

So I have been busy packing, moving and now trying to re-decorate the house, since we can paint, I am taking full advantage....but the hardest part is picking the colors.  Not going to post pics of the house YET.  Because I will post before and after when the painting is done. (should be done Mother's Day weekend, mom is coming down to help us out)  BUT will add photos of the other things we are building and adding around the house as we go along.

2.  Shawn had his surgery on one of his arms, wrist and elbow.  Will be doing the next one I believe in the next couple months.  He also started a new job, he is driving for Plant Marketing.  Local driving for 6 months and over the road driving for the other 6 months. We are going to do this for a year, to build his driving experience hopefully by then he can get a local driving job where he will not have to go over the road.  Below is a couple pics of Shawn's surgery.

3. Jaidyn's 14th birthday happened.  Will add pictures with in her own post.

4.  And of Course Easter...we did not do much for Easter this year.  Since 1.  the older kids to too old to want to do any of the fun little things that go along with the holiday.  and 2 the younger ones are to young.  So I made sure to talk about it with the older three, the meaning of the day and the meaning of Good Friday.  They already knew the meaning, but always to to remind when it's actually on us.  I took the twins to see the Easter bunny, and of course Kylie had to get a pic too..LOL  and cooked a ham, nothing special there.

Below is pics with Bunny

Thats really all I can think of that is new going on...but below are some fun pics of the kids..

Twins were outside with us, and kept eating the grass, so Devin put them in here, said they were saver in the pool...

Bye for Now!!

BABY FOOD FUN....

Over the weekend we went and helped Darce make baby food.  I have to say if I would have known that making baby food was this easy I would have done it for my older three!!  So much cheaper and so much better for them....

Here's a couple pics from the day!!

We boiled, peeled, chopped, chose our mixtures, and  mixed, mixed, mixed.....

As the day went on we put mixtures of fruits, vegetables, and meats into bowls and bowls and bowls.....(think we used all of Darce's big bowls)

Food then gets put into cupcake tins......and frozen

Once frozen, taken out of tins and put in bags...

While we were making it, twins got to sample....

DARCE'S BABY FOOD IS KID TESTED       AND MOTHER APPROVED!!

And we only left the day with two injuries....Darce's on left she burned her finger and mine on the right, I tried to slice mine off...

..oh the things we do for our children...

Teeth, Sippy Cups

New teeth....teething...wow if you are a parent you know how unbelievable difficult teething can be...these poor babies have no idea what's going on and they are in so much pain...

But after a couple sleepless nights and crabby days...

 Glennden
                                              Gracie

They are both getting so big both holding their own sippy cups!!

They are each other best friends.....Glennden telling Gracie a secret!!  (not really I think he is trying to bite her, lol)

Devin's Birthday!

Devin turned the big 10 this year!!  We had a small party for him at home, cake and his choice of dinner (tacos and nachos).
He chose to take the money (100) this year instead of a birthday party with friends...(other choice is birthday party with friends and a 30 gift)...

With his money he bought some toys and video games.

Here are a couple pics

Happy Birthday Devin!!!
